Spend the day with the family, bring along a picnic or a barbecue, and take in the landscape that surrounds Cania Dam. The Dam is filled with saratoga, bass, golden perch, silver perch, and many more fish species, perfect for keen anglers. Fishing permits are required all year round and can be purchased online or from the Monto Post Office.
There are plenty of walking tracks to suit all levels of fitness around Three Moon Creek and Three Moon picnic area. When you’re ready for a break, the picnic area has sheltered tables, barbecues, tank water, and toilets. The Three Moon picnic area is located 7km south of our park.
Three Moon Silo is the most famous piece in the Silo Art Trail in Queensland. The work was completed by artists Joel Fergie and Travis Vinson as a tribute to the local Aboriginal stockman who told the story of the Three Moons. Don’t miss this epic art installation on your trip to Cania Gorge.
Enjoy a circular walk that takes you to Giant’s Chair Lookout, down to Fern Tree Pool, and back along Doctor’s Gully. From the car park, head up a 400m climb along the ridge to Giant’s Chair Lookout; the views are breathtaking. Continue walking the fire trail before turning right to Fern Tree Pool, and spend some time here cooling off before crossing Doctor’s Gully, taking you back to the start of the trail.

Hidden in Kroombit Tops National Park is Betsy, a beautiful 1945 WWII Liberator Bomber lying in the bushland alongside information telling the story of the aircraft. Betsy can be accessed in dry conditions in a 4WD vehicle. Be prepared for creek crossings and deep ravines. Along the way, be sure to stop off at the picturesque picnic area at Kroombit Tops and take an easy 100m walk to the lookout for amazing views of Boyne Valley.
